In October, the Science Book Forum, a Qatar National Library initiative, participated in its first international event at the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany. Hundreds of visitors from across Germany and Europe visited the Forum's booth and interacted with the Library's SBF team.

Dr. Essam Heggy led a discussion on how water is being explored on different objects in space, including Mars, asteroids, comets and icy moons, by using different remote sensing methods. He also discussed how these techniques are being used to understand groundwater evolution on Earth in arid environments such as the Sahara and the Arabian Peninsula. The presentation also addressed water stress in the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa.
