Qatar National Library will continue its summer season with a myriad of events and activities designed to empower and entertain young people and adults with a passion for knowledge and the arts.
The next batch of activities starts in late July with the launch of the third edition of the Young Adults' Summer Camp, which will take place between 23 July and 11 August 2022.
The camp will feature eight sessions that will help youth explore their interests, touching on topics ranging from how to become a scientist, to learning to design on Canva and exploring the fields of robotics and engineering, among others.
From 2 to 27 August, the Library will also be hosting a number of programs and workshops as part of a special research series. The series features seven sessions on academic writing and presentation skills, writing a PhD literature review, conducting research analysis using quantitative as well as qualitative tools, boosting research visibility and writing a powerful discussion section in a journal article.
In support of World Breastfeeding Week, the Library is partnering with Sidra Medicine to organize a lecture on breastfeeding on 4 August, in addition to educational sessions featuring interviews with nutritionists, physical therapists and psychologists from Sidra Medicine.
On 16 August, the Library will host Zakaria Al Hagar, a senior librarian at Lusail University, who will discuss the interrelationship between libraries, society and sports, and the importance of sports libraries. The lecture will examine the role of global and local sports libraries such as the Singapore Sports Library, the Qatar Olympic Academy Library and the Olympic and Sports Museum Library as well as the opportunity that the World Cup presents to engage in community programs that advocate sports.
On 20 August, the Library will host a “Night of Rhythm and Poetry” where arts and music enthusiasts can enjoy the rhythms of the oud, played by the talented Ryaidh Boualam while listening to Dr. Mahrous Borayek and Dr. Omar Hazzaa recite their Arabic poems.
Children aged 7 to 14 years will also have the opportunity to go on a magical journey this summer as the Library teams up with Qatar-MENASA 2022 to tell wonderful Qatari tales and stories on 8, 15, 22, and 29 August.
The Library will wrap up its summer activities on 25 August with a workshop on assistive technologies. The workshop will be held in collaboration with Mada - Qatar Assistive Technology Center - which promotes independent reading and daily living - and will support students, parents, teachers, and allied professionals in the use of assistive technology.
The Library will continue to host a variety of fun and engaging events throughout August 2022. As the Library will host several in-person events, participants are reminded to adhere to the latest COVID-19 guidelines set by the Ministry of Public Health to ensure the well-being and safety of the community.
