Qatar National Library Inaugurates First ‘Libraries Lead’ Annual Forum to Advance UN Sustainable Development Goals

Qatar National Library held the first day of the ‘Libraries Lead’ forum on 23 May 2022. The two-day forum brings together library professionals to foster initiatives to advance the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 Agenda.

His Excellency Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, Minister of State, Qatar and President of Qatar National Library, opened the forum with a welcome speech followed by opening sessions and a panel discussion with key speakers, including Tan Huism, Executive Director of Qatar National Library, Barbara Lison, President of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), Dr. Jamal Al Yafei, Assistant Director of Strategic Planning, Planning and Statistics Authority, Qatar, Dr. Imad Bachir, IFLA Chair of MENA Regional Division, Dr. Clara Chu, Director of the Mortenson Center for International Library Programs and Farida Aboudan, Program Specialist of the UNESCO Office for the Gulf Countries and Yemen.
