Qatar National Library will feature items from its collections and host numerous special events at the Doha International Book Fair from 13 to 22 January 2022 at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
Visitors to the Library’s booth at the fair can explore items from the Heritage Library and view demonstrations of the digitization process for heritage materials. Librarians will be on hand to answer questions and help users register for free Library membership.
The Library will also hold several events throughout the fair. On 18 January, the “What Will We Hear Tonight?” workshop will help parents conduct exciting story time sessions with their children. That same day, parents can also attend the lecture “Choosing the Right Children’s Books” to learn about the stages of development of child literacy and how to select the best books for young readers. On 20 January, parents and educators can learn about the developmental characteristics of gifted children and the role of the community in nurturing them.
The Library’s booth will also host smaller activities on 18 January, including Chess Club, Kitchen Science, story time and crafting.
“The Library is always excited to participate in the Doha International Book Fair, and this year’s events offer something for everyone,” said Abeer Saad Al Kuwari, Director of Research and Learning Services at Qatar National Library. “We welcome visitors of all ages to join us in expressing their creativity, exploring Qatar and its history, and sharing their favorite books. This is a great opportunity for the community to learn together in a fun and welcoming environment.”
