Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Qatar National Library and the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana to digitise and make publicly available a range of invaluable Arabic and Islamic manuscripts, which are held in the collection of the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana at the Vatican City.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Hamad Abdulaziz Al-Kuwari, adviser in the Emiri Diwan and member of the Qatar National Library board of trustees, and Mons Cesare Pasini, Director of Vatican Library.
These manuscripts will be available through the Qatar Digital Library, a world-class, online portal launched in October 2014 to provide worldwide free access to an extensive collection of historical items related to the Middle East.
