Qatar National Library (QNL) welcomed globally renowned scientist and social entrepreneur Dr. Rana Dajani for a thought-provoking session on redefining success in the latest instalment of its Science Book Forum.

Titled “Doing the Impossible-If We Can Reverse Cell Fate, Why Can’t We Reimagine Success?” the event aimed to empower young learners, highlight role models for female change-makers from the Global South, and promote a mindset of resilience.

Dr. Dajani, a molecular biologist and advocate for women’s empowerment and science education, shared insights drawn from her multifaceted journey as a scientist, mother, educator, and activist. Through personal stories and scientific reflections, she encouraged participants to rethink conventional definitions of success, embrace change, and contribute to a better future for both humanity and the planet.

Best known for her pioneering research in epigenetics and her grassroots reading initiative We Love Reading, Dr. Dajani has been recognized as one of the World’s 100 Most Powerful Arab Women and named among the 100 Most Influential People in Gender Policy by Apolitical.

Maram A. Al Mahmoud, Manager of Children and Young Adult’s Library at Qatar National Library said: “QNL is dedicated to being more than a repository of books; it’s a hub for curiosity, discovery, and creativity. Our goal is to create opportunities for the community to connect with leading thinkers, explore groundbreaking ideas, and be inspired to push boundaries in science, culture, and education. Dr. Dajani’s journey is a powerful reminder that true success isn’t solely measured in awards but in our ability to embrace and drive meaningful change and resilience.”

The event is part of QNL’s ongoing Science Book Forum, which provides a dynamic platform for dialogue on science and innovation, while encouraging reading and lifelong learning among youth.
