In a collaborative effort to safeguard the nation's cultural legacy, the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council (QRDI), in partnership with the Qatar National Library (QNL), has launched the "Preserving Qatar’s Heritage Call." This research initiative aims to build a resilient and sustainable heritage sector by addressing key challenges and introducing innovative solutions to preserve Qatar’s rich cultural assets.   The focus of this initiative includes:

  • Tackling the degradation of iron gall inks and verdigris in islamic manuscripts
  • Expanding the database for inks and pigments used in early Qur'anic manuscripts

QRDI and QNL are calling on eligible researchers and institutions to submit proposals that offer actionable solutions to enhance heritage preservation efforts. The goal is to ensure the longevity, integrity, and continued relevance of Qatar’s invaluable cultural treasures.   Researchers and institutions interested in contributing to the future of heritage conservation are invited to submit their proposals. For more information and submission guidelines, click here.
