World Water Day, on March 22, is about taking action to tackle the water crisis. In Qatar, all fresh water is obtained through energy-intensive desalination processes, which may be responsible for as much as 40 % of total gas use, resulting in many links between the supply and consumption of energy and water. The purpose of this event is to explain to the public how conserving water translates directly into saving energy, and the impact on the environment.

Ástor Piazzolla’s music is featured in this concert of Nuevo Tango, the reinvention of Argentinian tango music that Piazzolla and others developed in the second half of the 20th century. Photographs of Buenos Aires by Philharmonic violinist Georges Yammine will be projected during the performance.
