A collection of historical photos, artefacts and documents from the private collections of several Qatari families will be showcased at a Qatar National Library exhibition from 16 December to 31 January 2019.
Entitled ‘Qatar Through Private Collections,’ the exhibition represents a collective memory of the nation’s past, and celebrates its traditional way of life. The previously unseen private collections bring to life the contributions that local people have made in preserving Qatar’s identity, history and heritage.
“Family collections provide a unique insight into Qatar’s history and we are grateful for the generosity of the families who have lent their valuable collections to the library for this occasion,” said Maryam Al-Mutawa, Information Services Librarian at Qatar National Library. “The exhibition will arouse the curiosity of attendees, youth and historians in particular, to learn new aspects of the nation’s history.”
The Library will host an opening ceremony on the first day of the exhibition at 4:00 PM, and visitors are welcome to attend the event.
