As the celebration of the grand opening of Qatar National Library (QNL) continues, special guests and QNL leadership emphasized the importance of the library to Qatar and the region at a specially convened press conference.
The panel included Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director of QNL; Rem Koolhaas, the lead architect of the QNL building; Ellen van Loon, partner at architecture firm OMA; Roly Keating, CEO of the British Library; and Abeer Saad Al Kuwari, QNL Director of Research and Learning.
Dr. Wastawy said, “QNL is fully embracing its role as Qatar’s national library. In this role, which His Highness the Emir made official by decree last month, we will continue to serve not only the local community, but also the regional and international educational and cultural communities as well.”
