A series of workshops on local stories, spread over two weeks, engaged children at Qatar National Library in December. The series, titled “I Wrote for My Country,” was part of the Library’s National Day celebrations.
A group of Qatari writers led sessions of this series and highlighted literary production through sharing best practices in reading, storytelling and penning short stories. In the opening session, seasoned Qatari writer Asma Al-Kuwari shared her literary work and achievements with the participants.
In an intensive session, Dr. Jaber Al-Nuaimi encouraged critical thinking among the youngsters through his novel Min Fa'r Ila Maarid (The Mouse That Saved Me), which underscores the importance of self-defence.
Author Jameela Sultan took the participants on an adventure through her story Rihlat Riyal (The Riyal’s Journey), while Sama Al-Hajri concluded the workshop with a reading of a series of four tales called "The Abu Saad Family and the Beautiful Past".
