Qatar National Library, in its capacity as the IFLA Regional Center forPreservation and Conservation for Arab Countries and the Middle East, announcesthe launch of a series of online training courses for professionals working inlibraries, archives and documentary heritage institutions. The training will beconducted in Arabic only. Dr. Abdelhamid Salah Al-Sharif, an internationalexpert with over 15 years of experience in disaster risk management andemergency response in the heritage sector, will be conducting the trainingcourses.

Workshop title: Co-Designing the Social Library: Tools for Community-LedTransformation

In a world defined by rapid technological advancement and evolving communityneeds, libraries remain essential spaces for connection, learning and collectivegrowth. The 5th edition of the Libraries Lead Forum will focus on the theme“Reimagining Libraries as Social Infrastructure.” It will explore how librariescan evolve into inclusive, community-centered hubs that foster social capital,strengthen connections, and help bridge the digital divide. The forum will alsohighlight the critical role libraries play in empowering individuals byproviding equitable access to technology, promoting digital literacy, andsupporting lifelong learning. From equipping individuals with vital digitalskills to offering welcoming environments for collaboration and discovery,libraries are uniquely positioned to nurture thriving, informed, and connectedcommunities.
