Qatar National Library, in its capacity as the IFLA Regional Center forPreservation and Conservation for Arab Countries and the Middle East, announcesthe launch of a series of online training courses for professionals working inlibraries, archives and documentary heritage institutions. The training will beconducted in Arabic only. Dr. Abdelhamid Salah Al-Sharif, an internationalexpert with over 15 years of experience in disaster risk management andemergency response in the heritage sector, will be conducting the trainingcourses.

In this session, Graphic designers, researchers, and educators Ghalia Elsrakbi and Engy Aly discuss key moments in design practices that engaged with the Palestinian struggle from the 1970s to the 1990s.  

Join us in this workshop which is presented in collaboration with the Qatar National Cyber Security Agency and aims to raise participants’ awareness of the importance of protecting their personal data in the digital world, while highlighting potential risks that may threaten their privacy.

As part of the “Gulf History Lecture Series” this lecture sheds light on the role of caravan merchants in the Arabian Peninsula, with particular focus on the ʿUqaylāt groups. It examines their patterns of movement, their commercial networks, and their contributions to connecting Najd with the Ottoman world and the wider regional sphere.

Workshop title: Co-Designing the Social Library: Tools for Community-Led Transformation

In a world defined by rapid technological advancement and evolving community needs, libraries remain essential spaces for connection, learning and collective growth. The 5th edition of the Libraries Lead Forum will focus on the theme “Reimagining Libraries as Social Infrastructure.” It will explore how libraries can evolve into inclusive, community-centered hubs that foster social capital, strengthen connections, and help bridge the digital divide. The forum will also highlight the critical role libraries play in empowering individuals by providing equitable access to technology, promoting digital literacy, and supporting lifelong learning. From equipping individuals with vital digital skills to offering welcoming environments for collaboration and discovery, libraries are uniquely positioned to nurture thriving, informed, and connected communities.
