Qatar National Library offers you a rare opportunity to learn from Ajay Sharma, a Jaipuri master in Indo-Islamic miniature painting, about the preparation of natural stone pigments and the basics of the painting process. The event will begin with a discussion about miniatures with Islamic art specialist Dr. Jochen Sokoly, followed by a live demonstration from the artist.The event is being held in collaboration with VCUarts Qatar and is part of the programming for the exhibition "From Material to Market: The Art of the Book in Morocco", running at QNL from 26 November 2024 to 26 April 2025.

How can photography document and preserve cultural heritage?This question will be at the heart of a discussion with two photographers who have been using analogue photography to capture Qatari culture since the 1980s. French photographer Vincent Aitzegagh, whose work forms a major part of QNL’s collection on Qatar’s traditional architecture, and Khalifa Al-Obaidly, one of Qatar’s leading fine art photographers, will share their professional experiences in an open conversation that aims to inspire audiences both in Qatar and beyond.
