Stephane Ipert

Stephane Ipert is the director of the Heritage Library in Qatar National Library (QNL), which holds a unique collection of rare books, manuscripts, maps and archival collections about Qatar and the Islamic world. Since 2015, the Heritage Library has also been the IFLA Preservation and Conservation Center for the Arab Region and Middle East.

Stephane has a background as an art historian, conservator and lawyer specializing in legal issues related to art and heritage. Since 2020, he has led the Himaya Project, an international program which aims to counter the trafficking of oriental manuscripts and documentary heritage.

Stephane has published various books and papers on heritage preservation, literary art in the Islamic world and legal issues related to documentary heritage.
