Sharon Memis, FRSA, became the secretary general and CEO of IFLA in June 2023. With a background in international cultural relations and higher education, she is a passionate internationalist and speaks several languages. Sharon spent most of her career at the British Council, holding senior leadership roles across Europe, North America and Asia, promoting UK education and culture. She has also worked as a consultant in international strategy for various organizations. Before joining IFLA, Sharon served as chief operating officer at the Association of Commonwealth Universities, focusing on global higher education and international collaboration.
