Qatar National Library has been selected to host the 17th International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) Interlending and Document Supply (ILDS) Conference from 8 to 10 March 2022. The successful bid is the result of close cooperation with Qatar National Tourism Council, which provided support and commitment in promoting this event.
The ILDS conference will bring international delegates from around the world, to the Library to discuss innovative practices, strategies, and experiences in the field of interlending and document supply. The ILDS service is an integral component of the global information network, which consists of national, academic, public, private, and scientific libraries, provides users with access to print and digital collections in diverse languages and formats from around the world.
His Excellency Dr. Hamad Bin Abdulaziz Al-Kawari, Minister of State and President of Qatar National Library, said: “Interlending and document supply is one of the cornerstones of any library's operations, and continued cooperation between institutions is critical to our ability to serve our users. By hosting the 2022 IFLA Interlending and Document Supply Conference, the Library is reaffirming our support for this important field, and we look forward to welcoming delegates from around the world to participate in these important discussions.”

Topics to be discussed include resource sharing, copyrights, open science, pandemic effects on ILL services, the importance of digitization on collection sharing, and ways to enhance cooperation among lending institutions.
