6 June 2016
Qatar National Library (QNL), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), recently participated in the American Library Association’s (ALA) Annual Conference and Exhibition from 23-28 June, 2016 in Orlando, Florida.

The Conference is a major global library event where important announcements are made, updates are shared, relevant legislation and policy issues are addressed, and discussions take place that have a major impact on libraries, their role in personal and community development and their ongoing transformation.

QNL staff attended and participated in the conference sessions. They also presented a poster presentation on Arabic cataloging workflow where QNL is used as case study. The areas explored in the poster session are time spent in Arabic cataloging, newly acquired Arabic collections for QNL, as well as QNL Arabic collections backlogs.

Furthermore, QNL staff at the library’s booth in the conference exhibition explained the new concept QNL is following through integrating the three functions of a National Library, a University and Research Library and a Metropolitan Public Library and showcased the state-of-the-art information services QNL is currently offering.
