Qatar National Library and the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on a range of scientific, technical and cultural projects.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Sohair Wastawy, Executive Director of Qatar National Library, and Giorgi Kekelidze, General Director of the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia.
The signing ceremony was attended by His Excellency Nikoloz Revazishvili, Ambassador of Georgia to Qatar; Patrice Landry, Chief Librarian and Deputy Director of Qatar National Library; Ketevan Dumbadze, Advisor to the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia; Dr. James Onley, Director of Historical Research and Partnerships at Qatar National Library; and other dignitaries from both institutions.
The agreement will initiate future cooperation between the two institutions in a number of areas, including the exchange of library expertise, historical research and other cultural programs.
Dr. Wastawy said: “We are pleased to expand our international outreach through this partnership with the National Parliamentary Library of Georgia. We foresee many positive outcomes in the years to come, including the collaborative sharing of expertise across many important areas that will strengthen the capacity of both our institutions.”
Commenting on the signing of the agreement, Mr. Kekelidze said: "I am confident that the partnership between our libraries will contribute to the better understanding of the culture and society of our countries."
