The Library is pleased to invite you to an evening with Dutch author Tessa Kollen. She will read from her latest novel De Mentor (“The Counselor”) and be available for a Q & A session afterward. The book is a murder mystery set at an international school and highlights several aspects of expat life. This event is organized in collaboration with the Dutch Speaking Association in Doha.

The Library, in collaboration with Georgetown University in Qatar and the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, is pleased to invite you to discuss the book Contemporary Arab Society, by intellectual and novelist Halim Barakat. The book introduces a systematic social analysis of Arab society and looks for ways to deal with the dilemmas of diversity and socio-political integration within Arab countries.

Programming is now at the center of the digital era we live in, and it's needed in many different jobs. If you are 12 to 18-year old and you enjoy programming, join our Coding Club and challenge yourself to learn the basics of programming.

Astronauts have traveled farther than any other humans, voyaging to space to help us better understand our universe. To be an astronaut requires years of study and hard work. In this session of the Science Book Forum, we will discuss the skills, education, expertise and training required to be an astronaut.

Alice is a 3D programming platform that supports the creation of video games and animations. It allows you to create fantasy worlds on your computer while learning programming concepts at the same time.

This workshop will introduce you to some of the basic techniques and concepts of 3D modeling and its software. You will learn how to create 3D models using specialized software and how to prepare the files for 3D printing.

Interested in exploring the oud? The Library is partnering with the Qatar Music Academy (QMA) for a series of workshops on three different Arabic instruments in January and February. In this first session, a professional teacher from QMA will introduce you to the oud, the classic Arab stringed instrument. You will get to hold and play the instrument and learn about its strings, parts and sound production. No previous knowledge is required, and the instruments will be provided.
