Sewing is one of the oldest professions, starting with a simple needle and thread through the development of the modern sewing machine. By using machine to sew fabric and other materials together with thread, people could make better, less expensive clothing. Join us every Saturday in November to create your own standard skirt and take your sewing skills from beginning to professional in one month with creator Nada Jabber Al Ani.

"Qatar, India and the Gulf" Exhibition Opening

Join us for the opening ceremony of an exciting, major exhibition entitled "Qatar, India and the Gulf: History, Culture and Society”, which examines 4,600 years of connections between India, Qatar, and the Gulf. This exhibition forms part of the ongoing Qatar India 2019 Year of Culture. The opening ceremony will include talks, followed by a performance by members of Qatar’s Mappila community from Kerala.

Weekly Knitting and Crochet Circle

Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. These talks will be held every Wednesday during October to complement the Gulf Architecture Month conference and exhibition on different aspects and dimensions of architecture past and present in the region. On 30 October, Professor Ali Abd Alraouf will talk about "Heritage, Architecture and Urbanism as a Catalyst for City Branding: The Case of Doha, Qatar".
An Introduction to Scientific Research

In this program, Library specialists will present a lecture on scientific research and its procedures, including selecting a research problem and designing a research plan. They will also provide an overview of research samples and measurement tools such as questionnaires and observations. This program is an opportunity for anyone who wants to learn the basics of research and write a research paper in Arabic.
English Fiction Book Club: "The Magicians," by Lev Grossman

In this month's meeting of the English Fiction Book Club, we will discuss The Magicians, by Lev Grossman. In this coming-of-age fantasy novel, young sorcerer Quentin Coldwater discovers that even magic is subject to the desires and often dark emotions of people. Copies of the book will be available at the User Services Desk.
