Does your child enjoy reading to others? Do they enjoy retelling events in dramatic voices and making expressions with their faces? In the Little Storyteller program, your child will get the chance to learn how to read a story expressively firsthand from a professional storyteller. Children are encouraged to bring the book they wish to practice with and dress accordingly.

Libraries have always been treasured in Islamic history, and reading has always been celebrated and encouraged by the religion of Islam. As a result, libraries have flourished and existed in various types and sizes from publicly owned (endowments), personal, royal libraries and others.

This online exhibition of 50 carefully selected items offers insights into the history of the Kaaba, the stages of its construction, its architectural features and adornment, and its religious and spiritual significance. 

This display of 18 unique calligraphic works from the Heritage Collection explores a range of styles, from the first uses of Kufic script, Thuluth, Maghribi, Sudani script and many more. It includes one of the earliest surviving fragments of the Qur'an on parchment, a rare example of Andalusian calligraphic work, tools used by calligraphers, and objects from around the world demonstrating the creativity and diversity of this Islamic art form.

In its first manifestations, from the camera obscura to the daguerreotype, photography seemed to be more of a scientific tool than a form of artistic expression, as it is perceived today. Many of the earliest photographers were scientists, chemists, engineers and archaeologists, who did not even consider themselves artists. Instead, they were interested in the concepts of objectivity, documentary and surveying.

In this session on Arabic calligraphy, we will introduce you to a new variety of calligraphy. Master Arabic calligrapher Hassan Al-Hajj takes us on a journey to learn more on Diwany calligraphy and its aesthetics.
