Currently working as the director of the Information Institutions and Professional Skills Department, Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Rania also holds many positions on a variety of committees; she is chair of the VIAF Council, a member of the IFLA Cataloguing Committee, chair of the Arabic translation team of the RDA (Resource Description and Access) Board, and the national representative member for Africa on the RDA Board.
Rania has led many translation projects, developing Arabic versions of the 23rd edition of the DDC, five formats of MARC 21, and recently developing an Arabic version of RDA Toolkit. In 2014, she received her master’s degree in library and information studies from University College London (UCL).
