In celebration of International Literacy Day and in collaboration with the Qatar National Committee for Education, Culture and Science, Dr. Hassan Ali Diba will speak about Qatar's efforts to combat illiteracy and highlight the importance of learning languages throughout history. He will also discuss the role of the National Commissions and UNESCO in the literacy of future generations, the challenges faced by contemporary languages, and new horizons under the continuous technological progress. The lecture will be followed by an introduction to the Mango Languages database available to Library members

Come show off your artistic skills by drawing one of our historical photos of Qatar with instruction and guidance from Qatari artist Fahad Almaadheed. The drawing class will begin with an introduction to the Qatar Photographic Collection at the Heritage Library by librarian Maryam Al-Mutawa.

These sessions will aim to refine the creative writing skills of promising writers and build a strong foundation for creative tools to support local literature.

Join this casual gathering of knitters and crocheters every Thursday from 9:00 – 11:00 AM to work on projects and share skills in a friendly atmosphere. Participants are welcome to bring their own supplies and projects or borrow the Library’s needles and yarn. All skill levels are welcome, including beginners who are interested in learning. Be sure to check out our collection of books on knitting and crochet while you’re here!
